(Roswell, NM) -- Police in New Mexico say the 12-year-old suspect in Tuesday's school shooting in Roswell planned the attack. Even so, State Police Chief Pete Kassetas said he doesn't believe the students who were injured were intentionally targeted.
Kassetas would not give the identity of the suspect. New Mexico Governor Susana Martinez said one of the shooting victims has been upgraded to stable while the other remains in critical condition. She added the teachers at Berrendo Middle School are being prepared to deal with what will probably be an emotional return to class Thursday.
New Mexico State Police Chief Pete Kassetas gave a few details about the shooting.
Kassetas said a search warrant was served on the shooter's belongings and home.
New Mexico Governor Susana Martinez explained the condition of the girl injured in the attack.
Martinez said parents have to talk with their children about the shooting.
Martinez said one victim is still in critical condition.
Martinez said teachers are being briefed on how to handle what will probably be an emotional day.
