Family Faces Deadline For Brain Dead Girl

(Oakland, CA) -- The family of a brain dead teenage girl is facing difficult decisions as the deadline to remove her from life support approaches. A judge ruled that Jahi McMath can be taken off a ventilator at Children's Hospital Oakland in northern California. Her family is struggling to choose their next steps, including whether to appeal the ruling before it takes effect Monday afternoon. They will also be considering that several doctors have said Jahi has no chance of recovering any brain function. Offers have been pouring in from across the country to help move and care for her.
Jahi suffered major complications in the days following a December 9th surgery to remove her tonsils. She has been hooked to a breathing machine at the hospital since she was declared brain dead three days later.
