Couple Conserving Water Faces Fine For Brown Lawn
(Glendora, CA) -- A Southern California couple that cut back on watering the lawn is facing a fine for creating an eyesore. A statewide drought has forced officials to implement emergency restrictions on outdoor water use. Glendora residents Michael Korte and Laura Whitney said the city warned them either they green up their lawn or pay up to 500 dollars. Glendora officials said Korte and Whitney's lawn is in such bad shape the property was reported as possibly abandoned.

California is in its third year of an extreme drought. Democratic Governor Jerry Brown declared a drought emergency in January.
