(Undated) -- Veteran Senator Thad Cochran is being projected the winner in a Republican primary runoff in Mississippi. He defeats tea party challenger Chris McDaniel. McDaniel narrowly beat Cochran in the June 3rd primary but didn't get the necessary 50-percent of the vote to avoid the runoff. Cochran is a 36-year Senate veteran and a strong favorite to defeat Democrat Travis Childers in November.
