(Washington, DC) -- Monday is the deadline for those seeking to be insured on January 1st under the Affordable Care Act. The original deadline for coverage was December 15th, but the date was pushed back because of the flawed launch of HealthCare.Gov. Last week, the White House announced millions of people who have had their insurance policies canceled can buy minimum health coverage or completely avoid the requirement that most Americans have health insurance. Federal health officials say the new rules will permit anyone whose coverage is being canceled to claim a "hardship exemption " if they believe the offerings sold via the new federal and state exchanges are more costly.
