Boston Police Detonate Two Backpacks Left At Marathon Finish Line

(Boston, MA) -- Police have a man in custody in connection with one of two unattended backpacks left at the finish line of the Boston Marathon Tuesday.

Boston Police Deputy Superintendent Randall Halstead says both backpacks were intentionally detonated. Witnesses say a barefoot man wearing a long black veil was seen carrying a backpack in the area and was yelling "Boston Strong." Authorities say the backpack he dropped at the scene contained a rice cooker and was likely a hoax. The other backpack was left behind by a media outlet covering the one-year anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombings.
