Archdiocese Settles With Man Abused 43 Years Ago
(St. Paul, MN) -- It took 43-years but the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis has settled with a man who was sexually abuse by a priest. Jon Jaker says he was eleven when Father Thomas Stitts sexually abused him in 1971, while he was an altar boy at St. Leo's Catholic Church in St. Paul. Father Stitts died in 1985. This is the first sex abuse case settled under the state's new Child Victims Act, which lifted the statute of limitation for abuse victims.
