(Winston-Salem, NC) -- Friends of poet and activist Maya Angelou are remembering her tonight in a memorial service in North Carolina. A public service is being held at the Mount Zion Baptist Church in Winston-Salem. Angelou was a member of the church for 30 years. Angelou died yesterday in North Carolina at the age of 86. She was active in the Civil Rights Movement and was the Northern Coordinator of the late Dr. Martin Luther King Junior's Southern Christian Leadership Conference.
