(Undated) -- A Minnesota man is the first American to die from the Ebola outbreak in West Africa. Decontee Sawyer says her husband Patrick collapsed while getting off a plane in Lagos, Nigeria.
Sawyer was infected in Liberia, where he worked in the Liberian Ministry of Finance. He was attending a conference in Lagos before returning to Minnesota for his daughter's birthday. Sawyer and his wife are naturalized U.S. citizens. Last week, two American health workers in Liberia were confirmed to have contracted the disease. They are both being treated and are reportedly in stable condition.
