Acting VA Secretary Visits Troubled Phoenix Facility
Friday, June 6
(Phoenix, AZ) -- The acting Veterans Affairs Secretary says in far too many instances, the VA has "let our veterans down."
Sloan Gibson made his remarks during a press conference in Arizona today. Gibson spoke at the troubled VA Medical Center in Phoenix and insisted the VA will work to earn back the trust of veterans. Gibson reiterated that he's working to make sure that scheduling problems become a thing of the past at VA facilities across the nation. The VA has been under fire for systemic scheduling problems and delays. The problems are most acute in Phoenix where up to 40 vets may have died while awaiting appointments for care. Embattled VA Secretary Eric Shinseki resigned last week.
