Accidental Shootings Prompt More Training For Denver Cops
(Denver, CO) -- Denver's police chief is ordering more training for his officers after a string of accidental shootings. Last Sunday, an officer fired his gun by mistake and although no one was hurt, it was the fifth accidental shooting by a Denver officer in just over a year. Chief Paul White says the new training will focus on how to properly use tactical flashlights mounted on the guns, because many of the shootings happened when officers meant to turn on these flashlights but pulled the trigger instead.
