Solar Flare Blasts Toward Earth

(Undated) -- A powerful solar flare that blacked out radio traffic could be the first in a line of sunspot blasts heading our way. NASA says particles from Tuesday's flare should reach Earth sometime around 3 p.m., Eastern time, today. Space weather forecasters say we could be in line for a series of charged particle storms over the next several days. Strong solar storms can damage satellites and electrical grids.
