First Lady Congratulates Robin Roberts After Relationship Disclosure

(New York, NY) -- First Lady Michelle Obama is tweeting in support of Robin Roberts' decision to go public with her sexual orientation. Still on vacation with President Obama and her family in Hawaii, Mrs. Obama congratulated the "Good Morning America" host in acknowledging her same-sex relationship with massage therapist Amber Laign in a Facebook post over the weekend. She wrote, "I am so happy for you and Amber. You continue to make us all proud." In her Facebook post Sunday, Roberts said she was grateful for her entire family and her longtime girlfriend Amber as they prepare to "celebrate a glorious new year together." Although family and close friends apparently knew about Robin and Amber's ten-year relationship, it marks the first time Roberts has discussed her sexual orientation.

Roberts has been recovering from a life-saving bone marrow transplant over the past year. She also received a message of support from the First Lady upon her return to the "GMA" anchor chair in February following treatment for her condition.
