Senate Approves Short-Term Spending Bill

(Washington, DC) -- A three-day spending bill is in the books after passage by the Senate. The measure, approved by the House yesterday, keeps the government running through Saturday as work is completed on a much bigger budget bill. That bigger bill covers more than one-trillion dollars in spending for the 2014 fiscal year. The House is set to pass it today with subsequent action in the Senate by week's end. The government was set to run out of money late tonight without a spending extension.
