(New York, NY) -- Suspended Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez may be considering taking a lesser penalty. ESPN New York cites a source in the "A-Rod" camp as saying the embattled slugger has discussed the idea of accepting a reduced ban of 100 games or less. Rodriguez was given an unprecedented 211-game suspension last season for his alleged ties to the Biogenesis clinic accused of distributing performance-enhancing drugs. The 38-year-old has also been accused of attempting to interfere with Major League Baseball's investigation. An arbitrator could rule on Rodriguez's appeal as soon as Friday.
