(New York, NY) -- Stocks ended the year on a record high. Boosted by consumer confidence numbers that were stronger than expected, the markets closed in positive territory on the final day of 2013. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 72 points to close at 16-577. The Nasdaq jumped 22 points to 41-76 and the S&P 500 was up seven points to finish the session at 18-48. The Dow rose 26-point-5 percent in 2013 for its best year since 1995. The S&P gained close to 30 percent for its best annual performance since 1997.
