Thanksgiving Church Service & Food Drive

Wednesday, November 26, 7 - 8 p.m.

Calvary Lutheran Church invites the public to a community Thanksgiving service on Wednesday, Nov. 26, at 7 p.m. The service will feature music, prayer, Bible readings, Holy Communion and a special holiday message. In addition, everyone is invited to stay afterwards for free refreshments, including dessert, cider and coffee. Calvary is also organizing a community food drive that will benefit local food shelves, as well as those in Liberia affected by the Ebola outbreak. The goal is to collect more than 25,000 pounds of non-perishable groceries and hygiene items by the end of November. LIBERTY CLASSICAL ACADEMY PRESENTS ANNUAL CHRISTMAS PROGRAM

Friday, December 12, 7 - 8:30 p.m.

White Bear Lake, Minn. – Liberty Classical Academy will present its annual all-school Christmas program on December 12, 2014. Open to the public, the concert will feature three bands and five choirs across all Liberty grade levels as well as text readings of the Christmas story. Led by Liberty Band Director Luke Olson and Liberty Choir Director Kathy Smith, the program will include exciting and rhythmic Christmas music as well as beautiful hymns. “Liberty’s annual Christmas program provides our students an opportunity to share their talent and diligent work with the community,” said Liberty’s Headmaster Rebekah Hagstrom. “In celebrating the Christmas story through music and spoken word, Liberty students help usher in the season with an emphasis on both excellence and the Christian worldview—two values that set Liberty Classical Academy apart.” The annual Christmas concert, held at Liberty’s campus—3878 Highland Avenue, White Bear Lake, Minn.—will take place on Friday, December 12 at 7 p.m. All guests are invited to an informal reception immediately following the concert. “Music is an integral part of the curriculum at Liberty Classical Academy highlighting the importance of developing musical skills, discipline and collaboration while encouraging our students to have life-long enjoyment of music,” said Olson. “Such concert programs are essential for teaching students performance skills and concert etiquette as well as building confidence.”

BEACON OF HOPE PRESENTS "THE PROMISED MESSIAH" ON DECEMBER 14

Sunday, December 14, 7 - 9 p.m.

Saint Paul, Minn. – Beacon of Hope will present its annual Christmas program, The Promised Messiah, at First Lutheran Church on December 14, 2014. Open to the public, the concert will feature the Beacon of Hope Christmas Festival Choir accompanied by piano and instrumental trio. Led by choral director Tracie Hanson, the program will include the cantata, Journey of Promises, by Joseph Martin. LIBERTY CLASSICAL ACADEMY HOSTS "LIBERTY: ALL ACCESS" TOUR ON DECEMBER 17

The tour is open to the public, providing a first-hand experience of how Liberty is achieving outstanding academic results by using the time-tested classical method.
