(Washington, DC) -- A meeting between President Obama and Senate Democrats at the White House is over. The meeting was called after the Senate failed to come up with a deal that will end the government shutdown and raise the debt ceiling. The President shifted his focus to the Senate after talks with House Republican leadership broke down. Senate leadership from both sides of the aisle met earlier Saturday for a meeting Majority Leader Harry Reid described as "cordial." The country could suffer a historic default on its debt obligations if Congress doesn't move to raise the debt ceiling by October 17th.
