(Undated) -- The National Zoo in Washington, DC reopens today, and zoo officials are making it up to visitors who were locked out during the government shutdown. The zoo is discounting all food and merchandise ten-percent. The popular Panda Cam is live again, and the zoo's other live animal cams are back online as well. The cameras were shut off during the shutdown because federal resources are used to operate them. All the national parks, monuments, memorials, and museums reopened yesterday, more than a week after elderly World War Two veterans were ushered past barricades at the DC memorial that honors their service. Those barricades were hauled off yesterday.
