Russia's Medvedev reluctant to reverse time change

MOSCOW (AP) - Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev says he has no immediate intention to reverse his decision to leave Russia's clocks on summer time year-round.

The move Medvedev made in 2011 when he was president has been widely unpopular as it has plunged the country into darkness until late morning during the winter.

Medvedev's mentor Vladimir Putin, who has since taken back the presidency, indicated that Russia could switch time soon.

Putin said in December that sticking permanently to summer time would make it difficult for TV audiences in Europe to watch the 2014 Winter Olympics in Russia's Black Sea resort of Sochi.

Medvedev told the Cabinet Thursday that it would be unfeasible to switch the clock now.
