Report: Hazing rules ignored before death at FAMU

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - The interim president of Florida A&M University says it is already taking steps to detect and prevent hazing at the school.

Larry Robinson said Friday that there are not any new incidents detailed in a report that contends that university officials failed to follow state regulations on hazing in the years leading up to the death of a FAMU drum major.

Robinson said the university would closely review the report from the Florida Board of Governors inspector general's office. He said that initially the report would be used to see whether or not additional changes need to be made to university procedures.

The report was done in the wake of the November 2011 death of Robert Champion in a hazing ritual. The university suspended its famed Marching 100 band.
