•    Barnes & Noble, Inc. (NYSE:BKS) surged 4.3% after it announced that 5% of its stake in NOOK Media, LLC has been acquired by Pearson PLC (NYSE:PSO). The purchase is valued at around $89.5 million

•    Shares of Nokia Corporation (NYSE:NOK) lost 4.7% following a Wall Street Journal report according to which its newly launched Lumia smartphones are available at a post holiday discounted price from Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) and some domestic carriers

•    Synchronoss Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:SNCR) jumped 3.3% on Friday, a day after it announced it has acquired Research In Motion Limited’s (NASDAQ:RIMM) NewBay unit which provides cloud services

•    Shares of magicJack VocalTec Ltd. (NASDAQ:CALL) gained 10.3% after it raised its earnings forecasts for the fourth quarter ending December, 2012. It also said that a new CEO and president, Gerald T. Vento will be in charge from 1st January, 2013
